DEFENSIVE DRIVING
DRIVERS EDUCATION - 0817
Duration: One semester Credit: 0.5 credit
Elective: Grades 9-12
Content: State law requires you to be at least 15 years old when you complete this class! Since July 1, 1994, the New Mexico Traffic Safety Bureau requires all students under the age of 18 who apply for a first-time New Mexico Driver's License to complete a driver education course that includes a "Driving While Intoxicated" unit and a "Defensive Driving" unit. This course will meet the requirement. There is no hands-on driving in this course!
DRAFTING TECHNOLOGIES
As of 2009/2010 school-year, 2 years of Drafting/CAD counts as 1 year computer credit - only applies to 9th graders Fall 2009 and prior/older students.
0702 Drafting General is the introductory class for all levels of drafting!
Semester 1: Drafting General: begins with an overview of drafting and its applications, basic manual skills, math and geometric concepts. The emphasis is on computer literacy and CAD skills.
Semester 2: Drafting General: Continuation of Cad applications. Upon completion of semesters 1 and 2, the student is proficient in 2D Mechanical and Architectural drawing.
One semester specialized courses:
0703A Drafting - Architectural: Course introduces and refines the technical craft of drawing illustrations to represent design specifications, using examples drawn for architectural applications. Grade 10-12
0703B Students learn from tutorials, develop and make plans for original designs and work in 2D CAD, 3D Architectural AutoCAD and Archicad programs. Students may prepare scale models. General Drafting A and B are the prerequisites.
0706A Drafting Technical/Mechanical: Course introduces and refines the technical craft of drawing illustrations to represent design specifications, using examples drawn for mechanical applications.
0706B Students learn from tutorials, develop and make plans for mechanical part reproductions and original designs. Work is done with 2D CAD, 3D Mechanical AutoCAD and Solidworks programs. Students use parametric modeling techniques. General Drafting A and B are the prerequisites.
0713A Drafting Related Subjects: Semester 1: Course offers instruction in related topics that are necessary or helpful in drafting related occupations. Students use Autodesk's 3D Max to model and animate 3D objects, Anime and Claymation are used to design figures and create storyboards. Students learn to integrate their drafting and artistic skills with the latest in technical applications to create original works. This class is designed to introduce students to emerging New Mexico occupations in film and advertizing. Pre-requisite: This class is restricted to grades 11 and 12.
0713B Drafting Related Subjects: Semester 2: This course is a continuation of Semester1. Students refine and enhance their mastery of the technologies for their personal creative purposes. Pre-requisite: This class is restricted to grades 11 and 12.
0796 Drafting Independent Study: Course is designed for the student to hone all CAD skills, or to specialize in a field of interest. Students are required to be interested and self motivated. Pre-requisite: This class is restricted to grades 11 and 12.
