MASTER TUTOR - 0831
Elective: grade 12 only credit 0.5 per sem
Duration: All year
Prerequisites: by teacher recommendation only
Must have excellent attendance, and a 3.0 GPA in the tutoring subject. Prospective Master Tutors should have a caring and helpful attitude, a desire to help others and have a willingness to lead, and the ability to effectively communicate/ explain/demonstrate concepts to others in a patient and friendly manner. Must be nominated and approved by a teacher of a core subject and attend Master Tutor orientation. Please note: a master tutor is NOT a teacher's aide, but a peer tutor during class-time actively participating in teaching concepts to other students. Grades will be assigned on the master tutor's engagement in the learning environment of the classroom.
STUDENT AIDE POSITIONS
Students may become an aide more than once a day, but not the same kind of aide (e.g., office aide AND library aide is OK, but not office aide twice a day).
Aide positions are open only to Juniors and Seniors.
OFFICE AIDE -- 0822
Elective: Grades 11 and 12 Credit: 0.5 or 1.0
Duration: All year or One Semester
Prerequisite: Principal approval, Typing, and excellent attendance record.
Content: Office aides are assigned to the school secretaries offices each period. They perform such duties as picking up attendance slips, running errands to classrooms, answering the telephone, and serving as reception in the absences of the secretaries.
GUIDANCE AIDE-0824
Elective: Grades 11 and 12 Credit: 0.5 or 1.0
Duration: All year or One Semester
Prerequisite: Registrar's and Guidance Dept. head approval
Content: Perform such duties as picking up attendance slips, running errands or passes to classrooms, filing student records, duplicating, assisting the registrar, acting as a guide to new students. Emphasis is placed on appropriate work attitude, human relations, and proper office procedures.
LIBRARY AIDE -- 0825
Elective: Grades 11 and 12 Credit: 0.5 or 1.0
Duration: All year or One Semester Prerequisite: Librarian's and/or Principal's approval.
Content: This position is primarily for students who are interested in reading and in the library. Preference is given to those students who have experience as library aides and others who are most familiar with the library. Duties include receiving books, circulation procedures, checking books and magazines in and out, and shelving books and magazines.
